Personal Websites
Your Website
On the right side of kleio in the Present Panel you can mange your websites. kleio automatically creates a website with the name of the account at the top of the Present panel - this is your Main Space with your kleio domain yourname.kleio.com.
Your Main Space is automatically set to invisible.
Within the Space you will find the following functions:
1: The name of your website. This name will appear at the top of your website.
2: Your kleio domain. You can access your website by clicking on this link.
3: Website Settings
4: Collaborate Function - You can invite other kleio users to share Records with you that can be shared on your own website/space. This allows you to curate digital exhibitions or show your community.
5: Multilanguage Function - With these buttons you can translate the navigation of your Website for each language you use.
Your Space name, your kleio domain, the languages, the sets and whether your Space is public or not can all be managed in this window.
kleio also automatically creates a set in your Main Space called About and adds your Profile Record to it.
Contact & Impressum
In the bottom right corner of your website you will find a button with a paper airplane.
When you click on it, a drop down will open with a copy link function, a contact form and your Impressum.
The contact form will send inquiries to the email address used for your account.
Since the display of an imprint is required by law in Europe, we ask you to fill it out. In your Account Settings you can edit your Impressum.
Unlimited Websites
In addition to your main space, you can add unlimited additional spaces/websites. For all additional spaces, you can choose URL slugs that will be appended to your kleio domain.
To add another space, click + Space
A field will appear where you can enter the name of your space. Click Save and your space is created.
The new space will then appear on the right under your other spaces, and the space settings will open. If your main Space is yourname.kleio.com, the domain of an additional Space you open, for example, for an exhibition, could look like this:
yourname.kleio.com/ausstellung2022
ausstellung2022 is the URL slug in this example.
Public or Password protected
For each kleio Website / Space you can decide if it should be public or password protected.
To create a password, navigate to the Password Protection field in the Space Settings. The password must have at least 6 characters.
If you would like to share this password protected website with someone, you can simply copy the link and give them the password.
Note: The Website must be set to visible for them to access it!
Released Content
In the Fields Display Settings of your Space you can choose which fields and content should be displayed. The boxes with the black backgrounds will be displayed. By clicking on the boxes you can toggle the selection.
You can also specify which media & file folders (Gallery, Attachment, Admin, Archive, Process) should be displayed as thumbnails and whether they should be allowed for download.
Multilanguage Function
You can use kleio in 3 languages: German, English and French
To translate your navigation, i.e., the title of your space and the names of your sets and folders, you can use the language sliders in your space.
Your default language (in this example, German) will be displayed automatically. To translate your website title and navigation, first set the language slider to a different language:
Now you can translate your space title, if necessary.
To do this, open the settings and adjust the title. The title on the right side of the panel will adjust automatically.
To translate the names of your sets and folders, make sure that the language selector is still set to your target language.
If you want to translate your navigation into English, your target language is English.
Then click on the three dots next to a set or folder:
Click on the Pencil and edit the name:
Now, when the language setting is set to English, the English headings will appear on your website and in your kleio.
If you have selected multiple languages in your account settings and have entered your content in multiple languages, you can also display it in multiple languages on your website.
In your Space Settings you can choose the languages you would like users to be able to toggle:
Domain
Your kleio website automatically receives a free domain from kleio. For example, this could be martina.kleio.com. You have the option of connecting your own domain—for example, martinamuster.com—to your kleio domain. This means that when people enter martinamuster.com into their browser, your kleio website will open automatically.
The following requirements must be met for this to be possible:
1. You need your own domain from an external provider. There are various providers offering this service.
2. Create an A record or A entry for your domain. Log in to your domain provider and add an A record in the DNS settings.
Enter the kleio IP address there: 68.183.242.130
Note: If you are unable to enter the following changes yourself, contact your provider's support team with these instructions
3. Update your kleio Space settings with your own domain.
Then click on my-domain.org in the settings
This field will then appear and you can enter your domain (e.g., martinamuster.com) and test whether the connection has been established.
Important: Enter your domain without www. (Correct: martinamuster.com / Incorrect: www.martinamuster.com). With kleio, only one domain can be connected, namely the domain without “www.”.
If you also want to use “www,” we recommend setting up a redirect to the domain address without “www.” with your provider.
If the A record has been entered correctly, you will receive a green confirmation.
It may take up to 72 hours for your domain to be discoverable and displayed as secure. If you still receive an error message after 72 hours, please contact us via the Support Form.
If you get a red error message, something has gone wrong.
Check the following:
- Make sure you have entered the correct IP address.
- Make sure there is only one A record.
- Make sure there are no AAAA records.
Adjust your settings accordingly and test your domain again. Once you receive confirmation, it has worked.
